Companion Planning Program
I-CART team members and Project Aftermath staff, Gerry Griffith and Jennifer Robinson, planning the coordination of the companion program. The Companion Program is a collaboration between Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Indiana Crisis Assistance Response Team during disasters in Indiana. Team members are assigned to survivors of disasters and assist the survivor through the short term recovery process. I-CART also takes referrals in disaster times from other Indiana Volunteer Agencies Active in Disaster (INVOAD) during this community response and has been invited to assist in other states in establishing companion programs.
Florida Hurricanes Response
Indiana Crisis Assistance Response Team sent their first team to Florida to support the recovery process following the hurricane disasters. Patti Olson, Team Leader, was joined with Team Manager Lisa Syster, Lara Chandler-Belsley and Jody Morrison. The team worked in Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Disaster Recovery Centers with victims of the storms and FEMA staff. We are very proud to have them represent our State Team in Florida.
Our Team also responded twice to NYC after the 9/11 disaster. Team members were Kim Walton, Gerry Griffith, Don Zimmerman, Jeremy Newcomer and Pam Wright.
ICART has send teams to respond to the wild fires in the San Diego area and they continue to serves in schools, organizations and corporations in the Central Indiana area.
